This beautiful cathedral is dedicated to St Martin.. The Pisa Romanesque style façade, in green and white marble, is a masterpiece of balance, with Pisa harshness giving way to charming fantasy. In the Gothic interior you must see the tempietto with the Volto Santo, a copy of a miraculous figure of Christ whose arrival at Lucca is celebrated with the luminaria di Santa Croce and the main attraction, the tomb of Ilaria del Carretto, the fiancée of Paolo Guinigi, who died in 1405.
