The house of the powerful Guinigi family, with its Gothic double, triple and quadruple bay windows, is crowned by an impressive red brick tower 41m/134ft high. Built in the 14C, it is one of the last houses in Italy to have continued the tradition of oak trees planted on the roof. Take a deep breath and climb the 231 steps and admire the superb view of the town's roofs and dual wall of ramparts and greenery that isolates the city.
