A beautifully designed staircase, which starts off concave to become convex to the bewilderment of onlookers, stands in front of the 16C collegiate church of San Michele. Inside the church, the barrel vaulting is highlighted by pietra serena, a grey-blue stone from the quarries near Florence. The monumental, Baroque altar was designed by Andrea Pozzo.
