Standing at the entrance to the town, the high walls and five polygonal towers of this 14C fortress are remarkably well preserved. A parapet walk offers strollers wide-reaching views of the city. The keep is no longer lodgings for officers and noblemen, but now a place to enjoy a glass of wine (ground floor), and admire the the standard of the Sienese Republic painted by Sodoma (second floor).
