The square, which is near to the Porta Fiorentina, is marked by an obelisk erected in 1644. The modest 17C church of Santa Chiara is next to the old keep, which was built by the Sienese in 1383. It contains two examples of terracotta ware by the local painter and sculptor, Andrea Sansovino: St Sebastian, St Lawrence and St Roch.
