Monterchi : Michelin's recommendations

This village is a must for art lovers interested in the work of Piero della Francesca. Situated 17km south of Sansepolcro, where the artist was born, Monterchi is home to a small museum which houses a magnificent fresco, the Madonna del Parto (Madonna in Labour). The fresco dates from the same period as the cycle of the Legend of the Holy Cross which can be seen in Arezzo.
