A typical Tuscan hilltop village, Monteriggioni dominates the rolling hills of the surrounding countryside, its medieval walls and towers visible for miles around. To explore the village, follow the road through the main gate into a delightful small square with a Romanesque church. There’s also a café-cum-grocery shop here, where you can sample a glass of the excellent local Gallo Nero (Chianti Classico) wine.
