St Francis of Assisi visited Pescia in 1211 and the church contains an altarpiece depicting the saint and six episodes from his life, attributed to Bonaventura Berlinghieri, dating from 1235. The huge church, comprising a single nave, stands opposite the 18C Affiliati Theatre.
