Two frescoes (on opposite sides of the nave) by the Colombian artist, Fernando Botero, depict the Gateway to Paradise and the Gateway to Hell. The influence of the Renaissance masters is apparent, but numerous details such as Mother Teresa, Hitler and a conquistador, bear Botero's distinctive style, as does the modest self-portrait of the artist sporting a goatee beard.
