This square, a starting point for walks through the town, includes the Torrione , a massive tower built in 1212, and the Rivellino , which was the main gateway into the town in 1447.

The town hall, built in 1444, houses the Sala Consiliare (Council chamber), inside of which is a Sienese Gothic wooden statue of the Madonna and Child . Nearby, in via Ferruccio, the municipal archives are located in the 13C Casa delle Bifore .

Built between 1465 and 1470, this citadel houses a remarkable marble reservoir, which stands opposite a chapel designed by Andrea di Francesco Guardi.

These charming public marble fountains, attributed to Nicola Pisano, have provided the local water supply for almost seven centuries.

A walk towards via Leonardo da Vinci brings into view the bastions of the town walls. East of Piazza Verdi, there is the 13C-16C castle and the fortress built in 1552 on the orders of the Medici, Cosimo I.
