Prato
: Michelin's recommendations
Prato is an industrial centre specialising in textiles (wool and synthetic materials) and is Central Italy's fourth largest city. The birthplace of the writer Curzio Malaparte, the city has been under the influence of Florence since the 14C. Like many Tuscan cities, it was once a rich centre of art, as can be seen in its historic centre. The cathedral, dedicated to the veneration of the Holy Girdle and decorated by the artist Filippo Lippi, is particularly worthy of note.
