Settignano
: Michelin's recommendations
Settignano, located near Fiesole, was the birthplace of a large number of famous sculptors (including the Rossellino brothers and Desiderio da Settignano); Michelangelo was even entrusted to a wet nurse here. The town was home to countless master stonecutters and their skill inspired many budding sculptors, including Michelangelo himself. The beauty of its surroundings was also appreciated by the great families of Florence who had superb country houses built here up until the 20C.
