Cuisine regional

Carte: 28€/66€ (tax and service charge: 10%) A particularly interesting wine list

This rustic taverna is in the heart of Siena. It serves local specialities such as ricotta gnocchi with melted pecorino cheese from Pienza and fresh truffles. Attractive, solid wooden tables with American-style paper tablecloths. The wine cellar housed in the tufa rock of an old Etruscan house is well worth a look.

      Pros

First of all: make a reservation, otherwise chances are, you will be dining somehere else. That happend to us at the first night and we were rewarded with a suggestion dor a very nice, good restaurant close by. The next day we had a good dinner that we really enjoyed. The service was friendly, attentive, prompt and competent. Also the waiter helped us to find a wine in the impressive and well stocked wine list that went well with our food. We had bistecca fiorentina which was outstanding. The filet with truffles and the pollo with safran were also delicious. The appetizers were creative, everything was made with good, fresh ingredients and tasted good. If you are in Siena for two days, try also the enorestaurant, that we fond through San Guiseppe.

      Cons

The restaurant is very loud. conversation tends to be difficult.
