Sorano : Michelin's recommendations

Sorano overlooks the superb limestone Lente gorge, dotted with natural and man-made caves (including many Etruscan tombs). The town is dominated by the austere fortress of the Orsini family which, despite being half-ruined, still has a striking appearance. In the 18C, an elevated district known as the Masso Leopoldino developed on an eroded rocky platform, from where visitors can enjoy fine views of the gorges.
