This rustically elegant restaurant is close to the Riva degli Schiavoni and is much frequented by tourists. The menus are delightfully varied and listed under three full-flavoured headings.

      Pros

      Pros

I really wanted to go to Al Covo after seeing it featured on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. It was exceptional! I had no problem getting a table without a reservation at lunch time and had a fantastic meal. I started with the spider crab and roe pasta followed by the sole, both specials of the day. For dessert, I asked Diane (the co-owner) if she could give me a sample of two desserts, which were both excellent. Cesare and Diane Benelli are excellent hosts!

      Cons

None - I am puzzled how others have been so critical. The lunchtime menu is very reasonable at 55 euros considering the quality and amount of food, and the service is very friendly.
