This 13C neighbourhood lies a few hundred metres east of the cathedral in Viterbe. It is extremely well preserved, and is a wonderful place to lose your way, with its little streets flanked by arches, towers and profferli (outdoor staircases). Visit the Museo della Macchina di Santa Rosa to find out more about the commemoration of Viterbo's patron saint, Santa Rosa. On the evening of 3 September, a 30m-high luminous tower, weighing 5t, is borne by some hundred locals all about the town, which turns off its lights for the occasion.
