This small volcanic island, whose craters have been levelled out by erosion, remains the wildest of the islands in the whole Bay of Naples. The colourful houses of fishermen, gardeners and wine-growers, and the natural decor, which has won over film-makers, ooze with charm. Take a look at Terra Murata, a fortified medieval town and, further south, the Punta Pizzaco, with its splendid views of the rim of a former crater. Continue as far as Marina di Chiaiolella, which faces the little island of Vivara (southwest of the island).
