Hakuba : Michelin's recommendations

In summer as in winter, Hakuba is a paradise for outdoor sports lovers. Surrounded by the grandiose peaks of the Japan Alps, this resort with 10 000 inhabitants was the setting for the downhill, Super G, Nordic skiing and ski-jumping events during the Nagano Winter Olympics. The resort is very popular with young people and boasts one of the best skiing areas in Japan, as well as pleasant onsen. There is also a host of activities on offer when the snow thaws: walking, rock climbing, camping, mountain biking, rafting, canoeing, canyoning, golf, fishing and parascending.
