Leaving for Japan
Hirosaki Travel guide
Hirosaki : Michelin's recommendations
Having escaped the destruction of the Second World War, Hirosaki has numerous charms, such as the thousands of ancient cherry trees surrounding the castle. It may be rural but the region has developed into a respected university centre, a fact that is closely linked to the legacy of the Tsugaru clan. This daimyo family, which had governed the town since the 17C, was able to take full advantage of the Meiji Restoration and send its best talents to study in Tokyo so that Hirosaki could enjoy the benefits upon their return.
