Hiroshima Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

It was a clear day in Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, when, at 8.14am, the atomic bomb was dropped on the city and the horror known to Mankind reached unthinkable heights. Estimates put the death toll at 140 000, including survivors of the initial blast who soon died from radiation. A city wiped off the face of the earth – with only a few exceptions, such as the chamber of commerce recognisable by its steel dome. Its vestiges have been left as a testament and memorial. Hiroshima's wounds have healed over and today it is a dynamic university and industrial city, which is constantly retrieving land from the sea. Life has resumed.
