Kagoshima Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

There are many good reasons to stop off in Kagoshima, a pleasant city overlooking a bay near the southern tip of Kyushu. It has two interesting museums around the vestiges of its old castle: the Contemporary Art Museum and the Historical Museum. The surrounding nature is also a major draw, with Sakurajima, an active volcano, providing a stunning backdrop to Sengan-en, a garden planted with tropical species. It is also close to the hot-spring resort of Ibusuki (at the southern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula), where you can try the unusual experience of a sand bath.
