Nanzen-ji Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Nanzen-ji, a Zen complex dating from the 13C, is made up of a dozen temples, the most spectacular of which, Hojo seiryo-den, has been designated a National Treasure on account of its paintings by two major artists of the Kano school. Inside the enormous main gate, San-mon, which stands without foundations on a stone pedestal, you will find beautifully crafted decorations on the ceiling. To the southwest of the gate the Konchi-in pavilion provides a fine example of landscape gardening.
