Matsushima is home to two remarkable shrines, where the memory of Date Masamune lives on. It also boasts a splendid bay with over 250 islands which became one of the subjects of the great Basho's haiku poems. Some views are not to be missed: the Matsushima Tower; the Shintomi-yama site; the Saigyo Modoshi no matsu; Ogitani and Sokanzan. Don't forget your camera!
