Nikko Highly Recommended Highly Recommended Highly Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

It is best to spend the night at Nikko and get up early to beat the crowds of tourists who come on day trips from Tokyo. Nikko offers a taster of the quintessential Japan of wood block printing, dreamy haiku and stone lanterns, moss paths among the cedars, and giant cedars. Many of the treasures of this spellbinding city have been preserved, including marvellous Shinto and Buddhist shrines with World Heritage Site status. The Shin Kyo Bridge commemorates the arrival, in the 8C, of the monk who founded the city; it spans the Daiya, whose banks are littered with seated Buddhas and ex votos.
