Obuse has plenty to tempt both art and food lovers. The former can look forward to delving into the works of Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) at the Museum dedicated to the artist who spent some years here at the end of his life. The corpus includes elegant wood block prints and kakejiku (hanging scrolls). As for gourmets, make sure you sample the chestnut-based sweets, best washed down with one of the fine wines grown in the region's vineyards.
