Ogimachi is the quintessential gassho-zukuri village, where no less than 60 of these typical farmhouses of the Shirakawa-go Valley form a superb ensemble that you can survey from the viewpoint of Shiroyama Tenbodai. Ahead of their time in the bioclimatic stakes, the houses face north-south and are designed to withstand the onslaught of the elements.
