The Shikoku-mura open-air museum lies at the foot of the plateau of Yashima, east of Takamatsu. It manages to summarise the whole of the architectural heritage of Shikoku island, with popular art (Kabuki theatre), traditional activities (mills etc) and simple homes. From the summit of the plateau, which is accessible by funicular railway, there are panoramic views over the numerous islands that poke out from the Inland Sea, the largest being Shodo-shima.
