The Asahi Beer Hall is easy to identify by the golden flame hovering atop the opaque black sides of the building. It is said to represent the frothy golden head of a freshly poured Asahi beer. This wisp of blonde froth may look like a lock of hair but it actually weighs over 360t. Designed by the inventive French designer Philippe Starck for the Japanese brewery of Asahi, the building is certainly an eye-catching advertisement. The most up-to-the-minute shipbuilding techniques were called upon to achieve just the right frothy effect.
