Of the five lakes lying at the foot of Mt Fuji, Kawaguchiko Lake builds on its views over the mountain with the added attraction of two original museums. One is devoted to the art of the kimono, while its neighbour shows a collection of remarkable dolls. The latter, the Yuki Atae Doll Museum, brings together the creations of Atae Yuki, a visionary artist born in 1917, whose figurines have particularly expressive and lifelike faces which remain in your memory long after you have left.
