Koobi Fora, to the north of Lake Turkana, is a major archaeological site thanks to the discovery here of the two-million-year-old skull of Homo Habilis. Rich in fossils, Koobi Fara is protected by the Sibiloi National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A small museum is located on the site.
