Time difference
There is a 6-hour time difference between Laos and the UK and Ireland in summer and a 7-hour time difference in winter. When it is 12 noon in Vientiane, it is 6am in London and Dublin in summer and 5am in winter.
Documents
A passport valid for 6 months after departure from the country. 30-day renewable visas can be obtained prior to departure or upon arrival.
Health
Recommended vaccinations: DT Polio, typhoid, hepatitis A and B and in some places Japanese encephalitis.
Anti-malaria medication is strongly advised.
Travel insurance is advisable (often included in the holiday price or automatically provided by some bank cards).
