The former property of the Prime Minister of Queen Ranavalona, Lake Alarobia is an important refuge for the birds of the Highlands. Herons, egrets and kingfishers dart around this green oasis situated right in the centre of the city. A privately owned park, Tsarasaotra is a Ramsar site supported by the WWF.
