Every seven years, Mananjary hosts the spectacular sambatra festival, which is dedicated to the circumcision of boys and is held over several weeks (next festival in 2014). In the mornings, don’t miss the picturesque show of fishermen’s canoes in the port, situated at the mouth of the river and the Pangalanes Canal.
