The much-visited Ranomafana National Park covers an area of 43 000ha and consists largely of tropical rainforest. The park is home to the source of the Namorona river and boasts a remarkable yet endangered biodiversity. This is the habitat of the famous bamboo lemur, the leaf-tailed gecko and the drongo bird. Spa-lovers will appreciate the hundred-year-old thermal spa in the village centre.
