Tin Hau Temple Highly Recommended Highly Recommended Highly Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

This brightly coloured temple founded in the 18C and restored on numerous occasions now has a delightfully kitsch appearance. Here, as in some 50 other temples in Hong Kong, the goddess of the sea and patron of fishermen, Tin Hau, is worshipped. The site is highly religious and has a moving atmosphere, with burning incense and wishes made in the form of messages and ribbons tied to trees. In the evening, fortune tellers gather around the temple to read people’s faces or take out their tarot cards, while groups of people burst into occasional song around the banyan trees.
