Completely dedicated to shopping and leisure activities, Tsim Sha Tsui is crammed full of large shopping centres lit by neon signs and linked by numerous escalators. The shops sell a huge range of products, from the latest electronic gadgets to the most stylish fashion accessories. This frenzy of consumerism spills out on to the streets, which are lined with shops (clothes, jewellery etc) and the more picturesque markets (night markets, jade markets, bird markets etc). A relic from the past, the Peninsula Hotel (1920), which stands opposite the Art Museum, is still a luxury hotel.
