The temple, built in the Qing style in 1973, is dedicated to the Taoist god of healing, Wong Tai Sin. In addition to his healing powers, Wong Tai Sin is renowned for bestowing good luck on his followers – it’s not surprising that gamblers inevitably make their way here before heading to the casino. Here they burn incense and paper-money, make ex-voto offerings and purchase calendars which help them to choose the most favourable dates for betting. The temple is also home to large numbers of fortune-tellers who have stands to the left of the temple entrance.
