Liwan Museum offers a convincing immersion into what was a wealthy residence during the colonial era (late 19C/early 20C) before the Revolution. The delicate glazing of the windows is striking, with stained glass filtering an iridescent light into the building. An oil lamp, record player and the bedroom furniture are all evidence of the western origins of the inhabitants, while the box of noodles in the kitchen, which would once have been filled by pedlars, is more Cantonese in style.
