Museum of the Nanyue Tomb Highly Recommended Highly Recommended Highly Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

This museum is built on the burial site of King Zhao Mo of the Yue dynasty, who ruled in the 2C BC with Guangzhou as his capital. It was the fortuitous discovery in 1983 of the king’s incredible tomb which led to the creation of this museum. The king was buried with his servants and his wives, all magnificently prepared for the afterlife. Nearly 1 500 fascinating objects were discovered in the tomb, including weapons, gold and silver plate, the royal seal (in gold), and jade amulets, all of which are exhibited here in a striking evocation of the monarch and his dynasty.
