White Cloud Mountain (Bai Yun) offers a breath of fresh air just a few miles north of Guangzhou and is one of the most popular walks with the inhabitants of the city, especially during festival time, when it’s considered good luck to climb a mountain. Although the summit stands at an altitude of only 427m, the view of the city is superb. The mountain is surrounded by a forest which is pleasantly cool in summer.
