As several disused warehouses on Moganshan Lu were in need of reconversion, two pioneers from the art world installed their galleries (ShanghArt and BizArt) here in 2000. In the rush that followed, renowned artists flocked to what was fast becoming a trendy district of the city. Nowadays, you can visit these artists in their workshops and browse the numerous galleries that encompass contemporary design, as well as naive and ethnic art.
