Museum of the Stele Forest Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

A temple dating from the 7C and comprising a series of pavilions and gardens is home to the Museum of the Stele Forest. The influence of Confucius (551-479 BC) is still highly evident in this site which was once devoted to him and which now houses 2 000 of the stone tablets on which the Chinese engraved sacred texts relating to Confucianism as well as poems and calligraphies before they invented paper. The steles are the major attraction in this temple-museum, which also boasts a surprising and highly interesting collection of tombstones and Buddhist statues.
