Festas are village celebrations in honour of the local parish's patron saint and are an important part of Maltese culture. They are a wonderful way to experience the local traditions and take in a truly festive atmosphere. Walk through colourful, brightly-lit streets, stop at food and beverage stalls, take in the sounds of a brass band, and watch the fireworks display overhead. Be sure to try qubbajt, a sugary treat made of nougat.
