On 10 February, the Maltese turn out in force to commemorate the shipwreck of St Paul on the island in AD 60 with an enormous procession through the streets of Valletta. The Church of St Paul Shipwrecked, erected in his honour and remodelled in the 17C, contains some superb art, including works by Matteo Perez d'Aleccio.
