Souillac
: Michelin's recommendations
Souillac was a very active port during the golden age of the sugar industry in the 19C, when products were shipped from here to Port Louis. Without that business Souillac has turned into a quiet port town, with its pleasant Telfair municipal garden, the maritime cemetery and the Robert Edward Hart Memorial Museum devoted to the Mauritian poet. On the coast are the Gris-Gris Cliffs and weeping rockb connected by a trail. Inland, you can visitRochester Falls and the Mascareignes reserve not far from Rivière des Anguilles.
