For swimming in Cancún, it’s best to head to the north of the peninsula, in the calmest part of the Caribbean protected by the Bahía de Mujeres. Compared to Playa Langosta and Playa Tortugas, which draw large crowds, Playa Caracol, nestled in a cove sheltered from the wind, is a bit more intimate. Be careful - swimming is dangerous at Playa Ballenas at the southern end.
