Tepotzotlán
: Michelin's recommendations
Tepotzolán is a highly worthwhile day trip far from the hustle and bustle of the capital. The façade of the Church of San Francisco Javier, a dazzling illustration of churrigueresque art, is awesome. Then there is the exceptional collection of the Museo Nacional del Vierreinato occupying a vast “sanctuary” which has remained intact since the 16C. Fron that time on, Tepotzolán was also a colonial village to which Franciscans and Jesuits came to evangelise the indigenous people and provide language instruction for the elite of New Spain.
