Tlayacapan : Michelin's recommendations

The village of Tlayacapan, dotted with numerous small bridges and about twenty chapels, is particularly charming. The streamlined nave of the church is surprisingly high. The monastery contains some fine grisaille frescoes inspired by Flemish Renaissance engravings, notably in the gatehouse and the Sala De Profundis (photographs not allowed). One room contains the mummies of women and children found under the church, preserved by the fine soil in the dry crypt.
