This is the best place to explore this athletic and religious tradition peculiar to Meso-American civilisations. The largest ball court in all of Meso-America (166m long by 68m wide) has preserved on its lateral walls the stone rings used to score points. It is decorated – on the benches running along these same walls – with bas-reliefs showing a victory scene between two teams. The captain of the winning team holds up the severed head of the rival captain as a sacrifice.
