Beni Mellal
: Michelin's recommendations
Between the Middle Atlas and the cereal-growing plains of Tadla stretches a narrow strip of rich, damp land known as “dir” (the name means “chest”, illustrating the abrupt way the mountain chain stops at the plain). Here, Beni-Mellal grew up due to the abundant springs around the city, enveloped by orange plantations and a vast olive grove with some fig, pomegranate, apricot and peach trees. The oranges from Beni-Mellal are reputed to be among the best in Morocco.
